Islamic Pillars

Deep condolences to the parents of Kayla Mueller, the recent victim of brutality of extremists. Five pillars of Islam are crumbling into the dust of ignorance.—why?—Because in Islam so many lies have been told by so many, so often, for so long, with such persistence and conviction that they have been passed as truth since centuries.—Even now amidst the hurricanes of hate, bigotry, hypocrisy, violence, extremism, Muslim Imams inside the closed walls of mosques are pounding into the heads of the young Muslims manmade doctrines of enmity, intolerance.—justifying rape, killing, burning, stoning, beheading as sanctioned by the Quran, glossing their distorted version of Islam with interpretations designed for the zealous and the ignorant.—In order to save our children from the hatemongering pincers of jihadists we need to decide which school they go to, what they are learning, who are their teachers, are their peers exposed to some other knowledge which should not be a part of their learning?—Some sort of malefic disease has been penetrating the fabric of Islam since centuries, devouring its purity, slicing it into chunks of harsh sects as dead meat to be exposed to the vultures with insatiable appetite for human suffering.—Prophet’s Islam was one, he lived it by the example of his life, loving, caring, forgiving.—Something went fundamentally wrong in Islam after his death.—Especially now, rape is common, stoning has become a norm, beheading is applauded, molesting of children and training them to be suicide bombers is the duty of every extremist. Sanctioned are massacres, Muslims killing Muslims and non-Muslims, abducting women and selling them into slavery, oppressing women in all facets of life, from work, to education, to dress code, to freedom of expression.—All in stark defiance to the edicts of the Prophet who raised them on the pedestal of reverence, saying heaven lies under the feet of mother, granting them the right to work, to own property, to pursue education, to practice free expression in rapport with the Quranic injunctions where men and women have equal rights.—Major reforms are needed (if pillars of Islam are to stay intact) by Islamic kings, leaders, Prime Ministers to slough off the burden of distortions heaped upon them by authors of zeal who are reluctant to loosen their grip over false interpretations practiced throughout the centuries for power, control, oppression of women.—How many Muslim scholars have voiced their pious disgust against the murder of Kayla Mueller, against the massacre of the school children in Peshawar by Taliban, the abduction of Nigerian girls by Boko Haram sold into slavery, the murder of Paris cartoonists by Al Qaeda, the beheading of journalists by ISIS, the stoning of countless women by fanatics, the flogging of blogger in Saudi Arabia, the burning alive of Jordanian pilot by IS, just to name a few of the recent atrocities amidst too many to digest or recount.—The world stands aghast, not interested in knowing why Muslims fast, pray, go to pilgrimage, which pool their alms-giving corrupts.—The world wants to know why there is so much hate in Islam, cruelty, violence, only the authors of zeal can answer by peeling one layer at a time from the giant onion of lies grand and mountainous.— Hope is on the way with this giant coalition, yet this is half the task, the other precious half lies in the intent and resolve of the Muslim world to sweep clean the debris of lies and distortion.—Prophet Muhammad said: Faith is a restraint against all violence, let no Muslim commit violence.—Islam literally means, peace, not really, does it?—Prove it, Muslims, by following Prophet Muhammad’s injunction, hurt not even the heart of a living being for each heart is a shrine of God—If one corrupts this shrine with malice, hatred, intolerance one defiles the very holiness of this sacred shrine in one’s heart.

Taliban The Terrible

Trained Tormentors torturing_3T: ‘The smallest coffins are the heaviest to bear.’ Dr. Raza said in the editorial of Lahore Tribune after the brutal murder of one hundred and forty-eight children December 16, 2014 in the Army Public School of Peshawar by Taliban in Pakistan.—Only a bestial, cowardly, Godless man would even think of murdering children, not worthy of the name man.—Not even close to maturity between beast and man and surely eons behind to claim the title, Human.— Thirsting for blood, the extremists have forgotten that Prophet Muhammad forbade killing of children and women even during the war in self-defense.—Prophet Muhammad lived Islam by the example of his life by loving, forgiving and serving the poor, the orphans and the widows. Not ever avenging for any personal injury to himself.—Forgiving in the face of persecutions and when the Arab poets lampooned and wrote derogatory verses against him, pinning those verses to the walls of Kaaba, he turned his back on them, saying, Peace.—No vengeance was wreaked even for the wrongs done to his family.—The man who had toppled the carriage of his daughter and she suffered miscarriage, was readily forgiven.—After the conquest of Mecca, his persecutors were forgiven unconditionally as well as the woman who had chewed on the liver of his slain uncle at the battle of Badr.—As to learning, Prophet Muhammad made knowledge incumbent to all Muslims, male and female.—Taliban, again and forever. January 7, 2015, killing twelve employees of the French Satirical Newspaper, Charlie Hebdo, and wounding eleven while shouting Allahu Akbar.— Allahu Akbar meaning God is Great, Great God has given them permission to rape and molest defenseless children/women, to behead innocent men, to despoil and mutilate God’s own creatures and His creation, is that it?— Humble appeal to Taliban for learning and knowledge if they would deign to explore their heritage, for God’s peace on earth, for the love of Prophet, in whose name they are carrying caravans of sins on their own shoulders?— Quoting James and Marti Hefley:— The Jews, Muslims and the Christians in the Middle East lived in harmony to their common Judaistic heritage.— They agreed that the world was one, that the material universe was the visible Cloak of God.— That the universe was not static, but dynamic and expanding.— Creation was continuing and there could be no conflict between theology and astronomy or between theology and mathematics.— Science was an affirmation of faith, not the enemy of true belief.— And Islam said that above all else the physical world must be brought into submission to God and the service of His people.— Islam was not a religion of Chosen People, but a mixture of converts from several clans and tribes.— They had developed strong loyalties together.— They knew the rudiments of trading, farming and shepherding, but had not developed a great culture as had the Greeks, Persians, Hebrews and the Babylonians.— So the Muslim Arabs began mining the knowledge of past civilizations, especially the Greek.— The Greeks had left their wisdom in manuscripts, which lay hidden in the dust of the monasteries.— Some Nestorian monks realized their value, gathered the Greek writings and fled to Persia.— The Arab scholars helped them translate the ancient wisdom of the Greece into Arabic.— Much of the translation was done at the great Baghdad House of Wisdom, founded by the Caliph Mamoun in Year 803.— For approximately three centuries this was the world’s greatest center of learning.— The whole schools of linguist-translators and other scholars flocked to this center.— Mamoun appointed Nestorian Christian scholar Hynanyn ibn Ishaq at the head of this academy.— Hynanyn in return employed the Jewish, Muslim and the Christian scholars to translate wisdom of the worlds.— The Arab researchers used their Arabic language and worked within Arab culture at Baghdad, their first priority was to study the Greek philosophers in order to develop rationale for religious truths.— The Sunnite Muslims in power at Baghdad made much of the Islamic doctrine of consensus.— Agreement constituted truth, even if the Quran had to be questioned.— The Baghdad brain trust wanted to know: Had God created universe out of nothing, or had the universe existed from eternity in potentiality?— Had God created it directly, or through intermediaries such as hierarchies of the angels?— Was each human soul part of a universal soul or was each soul created individually from nothing?— The Arab scholars translated and commented on the logic and opinions of Plato, Aristotle, Euclid, Pythagoras and Hippocrates, as well as the sacred books of the Jews, the Christians and of other peoples.— The Arab scholars while growing proficient in physics, medicine, chemistry, astronomy and other areas of knowledge, excelled in mathematics.— Khwarizmi, an Arab professor in mathematics at the Baghdad school, collected and augmented concepts of algebra developed by previous Arab, Hindu and Greek scholars.— Please, Taliban, heed the words of your beloved Prophet:— ‘If you can keep your heart from morning till night and from night till morning free from malice toward anyone, you are following my path and he who loveth my path verily loveth me.’— Jihad:— The word Jihad does not mean holy war, it means struggle against evil.— The Quran permits only defensive warfare.— The Prophet Muhammad condemned war as one of the many evils and forbade the Muslims to initiate warfare.— Telling them that when war is inevitable in case of self-defense, civilian deaths must be avoided, women and children must not be killed, no trees are to be cut down and no buildings to be burnt down.—PEACE

Sharia for Peace

Below are a few excerpts from my next book:— These are the portents of Allah which we recite unto thee Muhammad with truth, and lo, thou art of the number of our messengers. (Quran 2: 252)— If Muslims wish to govern by the Law of Sharia, they should heed the Messenger of Allah, living in conformity with the true precepts of Islam in all its purity of peace, justice and equality.— The Prophet Muhammad’s Sharia if it is to be called Sharia based on the example of his life and the Quranic injunctions is not about rituals, punishment, jurisprudence, but about love, unity and forgiveness.— He envisioned and practiced Islam as the religion of peace and reconciliation.— Allah would make the burden light for you, for man was created weak. (Quran 4:28)— Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. The Beneficent, the Merciful. Owner of the Day of Judgment. Thee alone we worship, Thee alone we ask for help. Show us the straight path. The path of those whom Thou has favored. Not the path of those who earn Thine anger nor those who go astray. (Quran 1: 1-7)— And O Muhammad say: My Lord! Forgive and have mercy, for Thou art best of all who show mercy. (Quran 23:118)— Had it not been for the grace of Allah and His mercy unto you, and that Allah is Clement, Merciful, ye had been undone. (Quran 24: 20)— Proofs have come unto you from your Lord, so whoso seeth, it is for his own good, and whoso is blind is blind to his own hurt. And I am not a keeper over you. (Quran 6: 105)— This is the path of thy Lord, a straight path. We have detailed Our revelations for a people who take heed. (Quran 6: 127)— And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. (Quran 26: 9)— And lo, thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. (Quran 26: 140)— And lo, thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. (Quran 26: 175)— Announce O Muhammad unto my slaves that verily I am the Merciful, the Forgiving. (Quran 15: 49)— Know they not that Allah is He Who accepteth repentance from his bondmen and taketh the alms, and that Allah is He Who is the Merciful, the Relenting. (Quran 9: 104)— For them is the abode of peace with their Lord. He will be their Protecting Friend because of what they used to do. (Quran 6: 128)— Confound not truth with falsehood, not knowingly conceal the truth. (Quran 2: 42)— He hath revealed unto thee Muhammad the Scripture with truth, confirming that which was revealed before it, even as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel. (Quran 3: 3)— And of His signs is this: He created for you helpmates from yourself that ye might find rest in them, and He ordained between you love and mercy. Lo, herein indeed are portents for folk who reflect. (Quran 30:21)— And covet not the thing in which Allah hath made some of you excel others. Unto men a fortune from that which they have earned, and unto women a fortune from that which they have earned. Envy not one another, but ask Allah of His bounty. Lo, Allah is Knower of all things. (Quran 4:32)— I cast the garment of love over thee from Me. And this in order that thou mayest be reared under Mine Eye. Quran 20:39)— Create not disorder on earth. (Quran 1: 12)— Work not confusion in earth after the fair ordering thereof, and call on Him in fear and hope. Lo, the mercy of Allah is nigh unto good. (Quran 7:56)— The faithful slaves of the Beneficent are they who walk upon the earth modestly, and when the foolish ones address them, answer: Peace. (Quran 25:63)— And when it is said unto them: make not mischief in the earth, the say: We are peacemakers only. (Quran 2:11)— Wrong not mankind in their goods, and do not evil, making mischief in the earth. (Quran 26:183)— Yet whoso doeth evil or wrongeth his own soul, then seeketh pardon of Allah, will find Allah Forgiving, Merciful. (Quran 4:110)— Sanction is given to those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo, Allah loveth not aggressors. (Quran 2:190)— O ye who believe! Squander not your wealth among yourselves in vanity, except it be a trade by mutual consent and kill not one another. Lo, Allah is ever merciful to you. (Quran 4:29)— Whoso doeth that through aggression and injustice, We shall cast him into Fire, and that is ever easy for Allah. (Quran 4:30)— Fight in the way of Allah who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo, Allah loveth not aggressors. (Quran 2:190)— And when we made with you a covenant saying: shed not the blood of your people nor turn a party of your people out of your dwellings. Then you ratified our covenant and you were witnesses thereto. (Quran 2:84)— O mankind, call upon your Lord humbly and in secret. Lo, he loveth not aggressors. (Quran 7:55)— War is a deceptive error. Prophet Muhammad Al Bukhari LV1:157(3)— The energetic man is not one who uses force, but one who keeps control of himself in a moment of anger. Prophet Muhammad Al Bukhari LXV111:76(1)— The Prophet said, a Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor. Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs. Whoever brought his brother out of discomfort, Allah will bring him out of discomforts on the Day of Resurrection and whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection. Al Bukhari [3:622-O.B]— The Prophet said, may I tell you of the people of paradise? Every weak and poor obscure person whom the people look down upon but if he takes an oath to do something, his oath is fulfilled by Allah. And may I inform you of the people of hellfire? They are all those violent, arrogant and stubborn people. Al Bukhari [6:440-O.B]— The Prophet said, the most hated persons with Allah are three, an evil-doer, a person who seeks the traditions of the Period of Ignorance and a person who seeks to shed somebody’s blood without any right. Al Bukhari [9:21-O.B]— The Prophet said, none of you should point out towards his Muslim brother with a weapon, for he does not know, Satan may tempt him to hit him and thus he would fall into a pit of fire. Al Bukhari [9:193-O.B]— The Prophet forbade robbery and mutilation of the bodies. Al Bukhari [3:654-O.B]— Do not become infidels after me by killing each other. Prophet Muhammad/ Al-Bukhari [1:22-OB]— There are three things of which God disapproves, cunning plans, waste of goods and excessive requests. And three are the enemies of my religion. The fundamentalists, the fundamentalists, the fundamentalists. Prophet Muhammad Al Bukhari XX1V:53(2)— Is Sharia to be the law of justice, equality, tolerance or compassion?— Or is it to be the law of misogyny, injustice, inequality, intolerance, suppression?— Muslims have to decide which law to implement.— Muslims in truth, not by name?

IS; ISIL; ISIS

IS—Islamic State—the Height of Absurdity, is a pandemonium carved out of militant groups called ISIL—Islamic State of Iraq and Levant and ISIS—Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, referring to the historical Levant, including both Syria and Lebanon.— Nothing Islamic about this state since they mutilate the meaning of Islamic state which in fact is working toward peace and reconciliation, but they have replaced it with pagan customs of stoning women, honor killing, raping young and old, hating God’s creatures, beheading remorselessly, disrupting the peace of God’s creation and murdering innocent men, women and children.— Where does in Quran it says to defile the sanctity of holy life by burying alive their victims, as they did in northern Iraq, madmen as militants blind and deaf to the heartrending torment of their live victims.— In essence these militants are not human, lowest than low in the rank of beasts, merely brutes and savages who have assimilated a handful of words as bullets of hatred to shoot at anyone and everyone to satisfy their lust for flesh, blood, prejudice and destruction.— Sharia has become their tool of terror since they deign not to know what Sharia is and that if this Law serves the purpose of injustice, inequality, intolerance, it becomes invalid, for Sharia is the law of love, peace, justice, equality and compassion.— The Sharia of the militants no one understands, but they have mapped it out clearly as the Law of rape, abduction, stoning to death, beheading, killing, destruction.— A pack of lunatics they are conceived from the very womb of militant-minded groups, their umbilical cords joined together with Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda, Taliban and many, many more who are struggling to bomb the entire world with their mind shattering ideology of misogyny, genocide, massacre upon massacre.— Amidst countless atrocities committed by such militant imbeciles , this recent beheading of James Foley comes as another shocking reminder that these men of most virulent and salacious nature must be controlled before they become the plague of mankind, systemic and incurable.— To eliminate the danger of this murrain from further spreading on a global scale, we need scholars, not just soldiers and scientists for its urgent demise and eradication.— One scholar has already risen up to the occasion, Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz, the highest religious authority in the country, denouncing the evil acts of these militants by saying: IS and Al-Qaeda are Number One enemy of Islam and not in any way part of the faith.— More scholars like him need to rise up against ISIl, ISIS, Boko Haram and Taliban and to issue fatwas and denounce any militant tyrant who adds to the suffering of human beings.— Recent suicide bombings in Afghanistan and NATO soldier stabbed to death in Kabul plead the sympathy of more scholars, not only to denounce these murderers, but to churn out authentic knowledge of peace, equality, justice and tolerance to teach these heathens the true precepts of Islam.— America too is disseminating moral issues in the recent shooting of murder and violence against the teenager Michael Brown in the town of Ferguson.— Our hearts go out to the family of the slain teenager, while we pray for peace in Ferguson and the whole wide world.—Peace

Adultery/Islam

Islam is in throes of violence and extremism.—The only way to sweep clean the jungles of hopeless, helpless pain of the victims caused by jihadists is if Muslim scholars of great intellect have the courage to rise and denounce these butchers, murderers and cutthroats.—And theologians too to emerge forth as teachers and saviors if they wish to avert the mutilation of Islam by scraping clean the mud of hatred and distortion so brutally flaunted by Islamists.— ISIS, committing the heinous crime of stoning of a woman to death for adultery Thursday evening July 17, 2014 in Northern Syrian province of Raqqa in the open public square in Tabaqa market is a harsh reminder that savage men dubbed as Islamists must be evicted/educated/punished before they rip apart the fabric of Islam into tatters soiled with the blood of the innocent victims.—As for the adultery, these few verses from the Quran should suffice for the would-be Kings of Islam.— The adulterer and the adulterer, scourge ye each one of them with a hundred stripes. And let not the pity for the twain withhold you from obedience to Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of believers witness their punishment. (Quran 24:2)— Punishment for both male and female is suggested in this verse, but extremists use only half of it to fulfill their need for cruelty. The totality comes to life in forgiveness.— As for the woman and the man, guilty of fornication, flog each of them with one hundred lashes. Let not compassion move you away in their case from carrying out God’s law. Unless they repent and amend themselves, then God is Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Quran 24:2, 5)— And those men who accuse chaste women and fail to produce four witnesses, flog them with eighty lashes and accept not their testimony ever after, for they are transgressors. Except for those who repent and reform themselves, then God is Forgiving, Most Merciful. ISIS/Iraq

ISIS the acronym for Idiots Slaying Islamic Sanctity.—ISIS much like other extremist groups is nothing but hatemongering group, not only hating its Muslim brethren but the whole of humanity, since puffed with the evils of malice, cruelty and ignorance.—Who are Islamists?—Could they only be tyrants, murderers and oppressors of women?—What is Islamic State, governed by Islamic Laws?—Do those laws dictate raping of young girls, stoning of women in remembrance of Judaic Law which has been defunct since centuries, practicing pagan rites of Honor Killing, killing of innocent men, women and children and destroying peace in the world?— And as for two of you who are guilty thereof, punish them both. And if they repent, let them be. Allah is relenting, merciful. (Quran 4:16)— Yet in this Century Twenty One the presumed adulteress is punished while the adulterer hides behind the skirts of his mother?— Prophet said, if you accuse your wife of adultery, bring four witnesses. Al Bukhari [6:269-O.B]— May I inform you of the people of hellfire? They are all those violent, arrogant and stubborn people—oppressor of women. Prophet Muhammad/Al Bukhari [6:440-O.B]— Could ISIS take one brief pause to test the holy waters of their piety, passion and ambition, reflecting, that Prophet Muhammad presented Islam as One Whole, untainted by schism? — And they have broken their religion into fragments amongst them, yet all are returning to Us. (Quran 21:93)— First and foremost, fighting is a great sin during the month of Ramadan if holy warriors of Islam could spare some time from killing each other and channeling their Islamic energy toward peace?— War is a great transgression in the sacred month of Ramadan. (Quran 2:217)— Eat and drink and do not be misled by the ascending white light. Eat and drink until the redness of dawn appears. During fasting a person should not behave foolishly or impudently. Or if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should just say to him twice, I am observing fast. Prophet Muhammad Al Bukhari [3:118-O.B]— Instead of killing their Muslim brethren in the holy month of Ramadan, would ISIS deign to earn points of heavenly merit by going on a sacred mission to rescue the Nigerian girls from captivity, so blatantly abducted by their pious Brothers Boko Haram? Are they not flaunting their lustful man-made rights that they would sell them into slavery?— It is not righteousness that ye turn your face to the East and the West, but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the Prophets and giveth his wealth for love of Him, to kinsfolk and to orphans and the needy and the wayfarer and to those who ask and To Set Slaves Free, and observeth proper worship and payeth the poor due. And those who keep their treaty when they make one, and patient in tribulation and adversity and time of stress. Such are they who are sincere. Such are God-fearing. (Quran 2:177)— And let those who cannot find a match keep chaste till Allah give them independence by His grace. And such of your Slaves as seek a writing of Emancipation, write it for them if ye are aware of aught of good in them, and bestow upon them of the wealth of Allah which He hath bestowed upon you. Force not your Slave-Girls to Whoredom that ye may seek enjoyment of the life of the world, if they would preserve their chastity. (Quran 24:33)— More Points to Ponder:— Keep to forgiveness, O Muhammad, and enjoin kindness, and turn away from the ignorant. (Quran 7:199)— Announce, O Muhammad, unto my slaves that verily I am Forgiving, the Merciful. (Quran 15:49)— It is not for believer to kill a believer unless it be by mistake. (Quran 4:92)— Whoso slayeth a believer of set purpose, his reward is hell forever.— Allah is wrath against him and He hath cursed him and prepared for him an awful doom. (Quran 4:93)— Whoso doeth that through aggression and injustice, We shall cast him into Fire, and that is very easy for Allah. (4:30 Quran)— War is a deceptive error. Prophet Muhammad Al Bukhari LV1:157(3)— The Prophet said, a Muslim is the one who avoids harming Muslims with his hands and tongue. Al Bukhari [1:9-O.B]— Prophet said, none of you should point out towards his Muslim brother with a weapon, for he does not know, Satan may tempt him to hit him and thus he would fall into a pit of fire. Al Bukhari [9:193-O.B]— Prophet said, religious knowledge will be taken away by the death of religious scholars. Ignorance in religion and trails and afflictions will increase by killing of each other. Al Bukhari [1:85-O.B]— Prophet said, Allah does not take away the knowledge by taking it away from the hearts of the people, but takes it away by the death of the religious learned men till when none of the religious learned men remains. People will take as their leaders ignorant persons who when consulted will give their verdict without knowledge. So they will go astray and will lead the people astray. Al Bukhari [1:100-O.B]— Prophet said, do not become infidels after me by cutting the throats of one another. Al Bukhari [1:122-O.B]—— The Prophet said, religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded and gain strength by offering prayers in the mornings, afternoons and during the last hours of the nights. How callous, corrupt and incompetent are the governments of India and Pakistan that they can’t protect their girls and women from being raped, stoned, murdered and hanged? – This is the result of billions of years of man-beast evolution into so-called man and what we have in this Century Twenty-One Boko Haram, Taliban, honor killing, rape-galore and rapists roaming free with impunity, ambushed at different posts to attack more victims to satisfy their bestial needs for lust, cruelty and beastly hunger.— Recent gang rape of two young girls in India is a brutal reminder that if man-beast is not hunted down and dealt with harshest of punishments as a warning to would-be rapists and murderers, the moral fabric of society already crumbling down would be totally disintegrated. – At least in India rapists and murderers are being arrested with the hope of being punished in relation to the weight of their crimes.— While in Pakistan, murderers are roaming free shamelessly, dishonoring even the memory of the victims under the vile, man-made laws which favor the scoundrels of heinous crimes to go scot free, not even searched and apprehended and even when found guilty, forgiven by the absurdity of immoral laws made by hypocrites and sycophants. – According to the justice of honorable judges of Pakistani courts, raping of women, stoning and killing is only a ‘routine’ in honor killing and doesn’t deserve the time and effort of the just trials. Sadly and most regretfully, police—the protectors of people, in India and Pakistan fail to help, believe or rescue the innocent daughters of their lands, serving as accomplices of cruelty, injustice and cowardliness.— Wives, mothers, daughters are raising bootless cries for help in hopeless, helpless pain, anyone listening?
